    Hunt report 1/21/2008

T&G Outdoors & Atkinson Expeditions

Well boys the dog days are here.  Now is the time to find out what we are made of.  The hunting has been mean and nasty. Of course this is what the hardcore waterfowler strives for.  Anyone can shoot geese early in the year, but it is now when we find out who is for real.  The birds are getting very smart and it is not about to get any easier, but you have an ace up your sleeve.  You have hired the Best!  We prove ourselves during these times and look forward to the challenges that await.  Now is the time when everything has to be perfect, as you will not get a second chance with these late season birds. We have been more than happy with our recent results.  We won’t lie to you and tell you limit hunts are the norm right now, but we will tell you that killing 10 birds right now on some days is harder than killing 30 earlier in the year. Limit hunts are still here, but they are a little tougher now than earlier.  We strive to make your hunts memorable and we promise to bring our "A" game to the table.  There is only 1 question!  Are you up to the challenge?  Freezing cold hunts, long days, smart birds?  If you answered yes to these questions then what are you waiting for? Let’s go get um!

We still have 1 week left in the duck season and we do have some fantastic duck hunting available.  We have a few spots left this week and you will not be disappointed.  We have some of the best duck property in the state and the warm water slews are loaded with ducks right now.  Don’t let this fun shooting day slip past you.  We had a group of 4 out last week that shot at least 100 times! Hint Hint Leif!  The hunting is good and we only have 1 week left to get um!

Please visit our booth at the ISE this week.  Gooch and I will be there to BS and put some names and faces together.  Rob from Atkinson will also be there for those of you that have contacted us about big game hunts.  We are looking to have our Kansas turkey hunts booked up after the show as we are already about half full.  We have 2 farms in Kansas.  One in the Northeast corner that is full of big Eastern birds. The other one in the Southeastern corner.  We are also running a few hunts in Colorado near Greeley that is loaded with Merriam's.

We would also like to say thanks to all of you who have book hunts with us.  We really appreciate your business as well as your friendship.  We feel we have had a very successful season so far (Still 6 weeks to go)  and look to finish strong.  Have fun and stay safe out there!

Hunt Report 12/15/2007

The last few weeks have been great.  There birds in Colorado have been here a while and were starting to get stale.  They had been shot at and were beginning to wise up to the game.  Then we got what all waterfowl hunters dream of (SNOW).  With the cold weather up North and the snow along the Front Range the hunting has been great the last week.  Lots of new “Big” birds have moved into the state and they are very mixed up right now. The thing we need now is to get some nice weather to keep out birds here now and continue the grindage!

We had consistent duck hunting until our ponds froze and now we will be concentrating on our warm water slews and fields for the Mallards.  The goose hunting has been as good as it gets the last week or so.  With limits being the norm and happy hunters all the way around.  We just finished out Hunting Down Cancer hunt. All of the proceeds from the hunt are donated to the Lance Armstrong Foundation.  We hunted with Avery Pro-Staffer Doug Steinke and his crew. The hunting was fantastic and a great day was had by all.  Look for this hunt on the 2008 DVD Migration Madness.  We have been getting excellent footage for this new DVD.  Doug also took some fantastic action shots of the hunt and they will be posted in the picture section as soon as possible.  Doug is a very talented photographer and we are very pleased to have his pictures on our site.

Dates are filling fast for the remainder of the season.  Don’t wait until it’s too late to book your prime date for your next outing.   Feel free to contact T&G Outdoors or Atkinson Expeditions to book your prime date and have the trip of a lifetime!

  November  26/2007

Well guys the season is finally here.  We have a little time to kill so it is time for the new hunting report.

We finished putting pits and lids on last week so everyone should be good to go.   It is not so bad digging and putting lids on when the weather is nice.  We finished just in time and stayed warm and dry.

Goose and duck numbers in the state of Colorado are growing daily.  We have a bunch of birds here right now.  The boys hunted Loveland last Wednesday and saw line after line of migrating geese.  The same holds for the Brighton area.  I have been down here for 30 years and I have never seen more than 10 snow geese mixed in a flock of Canada's.  I hunted in Brighton on Wednesday and saw 3 flocks of at least 100 birds all snow geese.  They did not stop, but just kept going.  The hunting has been average I would say.  The birds are here, but they are the majority little birds and they like to fly in groups of 100-500 birds.  If they want to be where you are then you are in for a show.  If not you are in for a long morning of bird watching.  We finally began shooting some big birds on Wednesday of last week.  Yesterday we only shot 3 little birds the whole day.  We still saw them, but the big birds just work so much better.  The duck numbers are growing daily and the hunting in the fields can be unbelievable.  The problem with hunting the fields in the afternoon is unless you get some cold weather those ducks like to fly right at legal shooting time.  It is tuff to watch hundreds of ducks circling and landing in the decoys 2 minutes after legal shooting time.  Thanks to those of you that have already hunted with us this year.  We really appreciate your support.

Congrats to our Southern Colorado Big Game expert Darren who shot a real nice 6x6 bull in the 4th rifle season.  Darren loves elk hunting like we love waterfowl hunting.  He is a great dude and helps us scout our Western slope properties when he is not elk hunting.  Thanks Darren and congrats on a nice bull.

We still have spots available, but book now to ensure we can get you the dates you want.  We will fill many of the spots at the ISE show in January, but we still have openings between then and now.  Thanks for looking and we hope to se you soon.

One last thing is for our sub leasers.  If there are cattle in the field then please just walk them off.  They don’t bother anyone so just chase them off and get to hunting.  Also please make sure all gates are closed.  We have had a couple reports of gates not being closed and this is not a way to make a landowner happy.  Work with them and they will work with us.  Thanks again for your support.

September-October Update

Welcome to another year of waterfowl hunting in the great state of Colorado.  We look forward to hunting with those of you that have already taken advantage of our early season special, (150 per man for a 4 person group) and to those of you that have contacted us about hunting together this season.

First off we had a great Dove season.  Those birds were plentiful and there was no shortage of shooting, just a shortage of hitting!  We had a great time.  Teal season has also come and gone with good numbers of birds out on the Eastern Plains.  We had good reports from some of our sub leases of great Teal shoots during the week.

Now we are looking forward to the early goose opener and the 1st duck split.  For those of you that are interested in the early goose season we have some great fields that are holding good numbers of geese.  I believe as of now we have room for 1 group on the opener and 1 group on Sunday.  Don’t miss out on a great way to start the season!  Call or email us for details.  We are also anticipating a great duck season.  The population of ducks is up overall, which has us looking forward to hitting the ponds and river going after those Greenheads!  The reports coming in from Canada is that there are many more birds this year than in previous years.

T&G Outdoors will be heading to Peace River Alberta Canada for a 10 day hunt in the middle of October. We will be shooting our new video and can’t wait to give you guys a sneak peak at it.  We will also be filming through out the 2007/2008 season in Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, and Idaho.  There is a good chance that you will see yourself on the video if you book a hunt with us this year.  We are looking forward to a great season and are very anxious to get going again.  Wes and the boys at Atkinson Expeditions have been hammering the big bucks and bulls so far this year in the archery and muzzle loader seasons.  Check them out at www.atkinsonexpeditions.com We are very happy to have partnered with Wes and his crew this year and don’t forget that you can also book the hunt of a lifetime thru them also.  Just ask for one of us to guide you and we will be set to go.  Feel free to contact either one of us for information regarding the hunt of a lifetime.  We will do our best to make you trip a memorable one.  Remember the motto we live by “PURE WATERFOWL!”  It is what gets us up in the morning.  Thanks for checking us out and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Also, we still have some great sub-leases available.  Call 303-906-1670 for details

We are in the plans of putting together a video for all to enjoy after the 07-08 season.  Not only will there be duck and goose hunts on there but also elk and deer hunts.  Hope to see you soon
